Faster (2010)

On the very day he’s released from a 10-year prison sentence, convicted bank robber Driver (Dwayne Johnson) hits the streets to take revenge on the men who bungled the job that got him busted and his beloved brother killed. But close on Driver’s tail are a driven cop (Billy Bob Thornton) on the one hand and a flamboyant contract killer (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) on the other. George Tillman Jr. directs this thriller that also stars Carla Gugino.

S.W.A.T.: Fire Fight (2011)

This sequel to the 2003 actioner stars Gabriel Macht as S.W.A.T. trainer Paul Cutler, who is transferred from Los Angeles to Detroit, where he must try to whip a resentful squad into shape while foiling a killer with a vendetta. One-time government agent Walter Hatch (Robert Patrick) holds Cutler responsible for a tragic death that occurs during a hostage situation and begins a bloody campaign to make Cutler and his new compatriots suffer.

Angelina Ballerina: Ballet Dreams (2011)

The animated ballet-dancing mouse adjusts to life at a brand-new school and shoots for a leading role in the prestigious Mousinov Ballet in this collection of stories from the PBS series “Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps.” As 8-year-old Angelina pursues her dreams at Camembert Academy, she’s exposed to a wide array of dance styles, including modern, tap and jazz. Always a hard worker, Angelina also must deal with life away from the stage.

Thomas & Friends: Pop Goes Thomas (2011)

Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends return for a new batch of adventures in this collection. In the title tale, Thomas sets out for a children’s party with a load of fizzy lemonade, but when he arrives, the delicious drink has disappeared! Later, Thomas has an important job to do, but he’d rather join Percy in a game of hide-and-seek. Then, Emily takes on an important task on the day of a Sodor football tournament.

My Girlfriend’s Back (2010)

Businessman Derek (Malik Yoba) has worked long and hard to carve out a high-profile career and is engaged to smart and beautiful Becca (Victoria Platt). But just as Derek begins to enjoy the fruits of his labor, his alluring ex-girlfriend, Nicki (Tangi Miller), re-enters the picture. Nicki’s carefree and passionate ways make Derek veer off course, prompting him to re-evaluate his definition of success. After all, what’s success without love?

A Beautiful Life (2008)

Maggie (Angela Sarafyan) flees the tyranny of her family for a new life in Los Angeles, where she meets fellow loner David (Jesse Garcia), an illegal immigrant looking for his mother. Together they forge an unlikely bond with a Chinese stripper (Bai Ling) and a local librarian (Dana Delany). Intertwining tales of hope and redemption unfold across a rich City of Angels backdrop in this uplifting ensemble drama.

Conviction (2009)

Convinced that her brother, Kenneth (Sam Rockwell), has been unjustly convicted of murder and incompetently defended by court-ordered attorneys, high school dropout Betty Anne Waters (Hilary Swank) puts herself through law school in order to represent him in his appeal. Inspired by a true story, director Tony Goldwyn’s stirring drama also stars Melissa Leo, Minnie Driver, Peter Gallagher and Clea DuVall.

Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould (2009)

Pianist Glenn Gould was known as a unique and enigmatic personality, and his brief life has long fascinated both biographers and filmmakers. But behind Gould’s carefully cultivated image lurked a number of shadowy issues, including drug use. Through interviews and never-before-seen footage, the film carefully sifts through and examines the seemingly contradictory influences and motivations that shaped the legendary musician.

A Marine Story (2010)

A decorated officer from a military family, Alex (Dreya Weber) is unexpectedly discharged from duty. When she returns to her conservative hometown, the Marine struggles to readjust to civilian life, but agrees to mentor Saffron (Paris P. Pickard), a troubled teen who’s enlisting. Alex is the no-nonsense role model and authority figure Saffron needs, but as Saffron finally hits her stride, Alex must find the courage to face her own demons.
