We’re all familiar with the Charlie Brown Holiday Specials, namely “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Much like the actual Thanksgiving holiday, the Peanuts’ Turkey Day special is overshadowed by those other two holidays.
Back in the day, you knew a cartoon special was coming up when this flashed on the screen of CBS:
To be honest, there isn’t a whole lot of memorable dialog in this episode, at least not when you compare it to the Halloween and Christmas specials. In short, Charlie Brown has to make an impromptu Thanksgiving meal when Peppermint Patty invites herself, Marcie, and Franklin over. Snoopy takes it upon himself to prepare “dinner” and set the table (an old ping-pong set found in the garage). By the end of the half-hour episode, Charlie Brown has managed to make everything right, just as he’s meant to.
So kids, if your Thanksgiving dinner didn’t quite end up as you planned, be thankful you aren’t stuck with toast, popcorn, pretzels, and jelly beans.

On the one hand, this is my least favorite Charlie Brown special cause of that Snoopy song they play when he’s setting the table. It’s my least favorite song this side of Taylor Swift. On the other hand, it’s my least favorite special because it has the least actual animation and in a special with little dialogue that’s unfortunate.
either way, I can’t wait for Christmas : )
Stop hating fun, Josie.
Kae, here’s a big, virtual umbrella to shield your parade from all that rain. It’s a sweet story, and a nice way for you to wish us a happy day, whatever our circumstances.
