Paul and Spike – Too Grumpy Critics: Episode 309

Too Grumpy Critics Episode 309

Shield your eyes! There’s a reason they call them “unmentionables,” Spike.

The Film Geek takes exception with Paul’s review of The Hangover.

There are way more incidences of parents accidentally watching soft-core porn with their children than you might think.

“Our father, in tartan heaven”?

Paul had a quiet Week In Stuff:

Atonement, which he gave a “Really Liked It” on the Netflix rating, which is in keeping with how I felt about it. I loved seeing it on the big screen for the big, sweeping visuals. It is, as Paul says, not the feel-good movie of any year, so don’t watch it if you’re having a downer, but boy is it a good watch. Highly recommended, all around.

Anamorphic copy of the original 1977 cut of Star Wars, with the mono soundtrack, gotten through perfectly legal means, natch. Now, I love me some Star Wars, but I’m content with the DVD’s I have, which have the original theatrical releases as well as the stupid director’s cut.

As for Spike:

Two apps worth spending money on: Wonder Radio, a radio player that allows you to search thousands of stations by location and format, and TuneInRadio, which allows you to record the streaming radio as you listen or program it to record on a timer. (Reviewer’s note: iOS 4 includes multitasking for supported hardware. It works on my iPhone 3GS.)

Spike flirts with prostitutes?

Hopefully, no one at Dish Network listens to the show.

Bang Goes the Theory – the BBC’s answer to Mythbusters.

It’s time for the next edition of the Too Grumpy Movie Club: Scorcese’s After Hours

(did he say “Kiwi Buster”? That’s what I thought. Heh.)

Two things you need to know:

1. Ignore the cover. It’s stupid and dopey and totally misrepresents the film.

2. Ignore the synopsis. It would have you believe it’s a cheesy Chevy Chase film from the 80′s.

3. It’s slow, but it’s supposed to be slow.

Wait, that was three things. Whatever. Watch the movie and send your thoughts about it to theusualaddress at live dot com, comment on the official blog, or shout it on Twitter.
