District 9 really started something. Coming up in November is another low budget alien movie – this time a throwback to 50s & 60s era plot devices when one of our many attempts to contact extraterrestrials… succeeds, but maybe not in the way preferred.
First time screenwriters Joshua Cordes and Liam O’Donnell get their shot at a genre film. A possible warning sign is the directing duo of Greg Strause and Colin Strause whose only previous credit is Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem.
Plot:
In the sci-fi thriller “Skyline,” strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the earth.
As you will see in the trailer, Stephen Hawking’s name is used about 4,316 times. I wonder if he is a silent producer?
Invading a screen near you on November 12.

I caught this trailer earlier. It sounds kinda interesting and the Stephen Hawking stuff is pretty funny. I can picture him telling scientists “I told you so” as they all get sucked up into the sky. LOL! I guess his having a cameo is out of the question, huh? Too bad. Still, this could be a fun movie, one way or another. Will have to add it to my list.
Hmmm. Nice teaser, but I’d like to see more before forming an opinion. Aside from the O’Donnell/Rather bits, that could have been the opening cinematic to a video game.
True, and the two guys standing there do look pretty CGI-ish.
This does explain all of the creepy bubble/foam people that were floating off into the sky at SDCC, though.
Ha! That’s a good idea though!
Yeah, that scene I capped for the feature image looks just like a video game. Especially when in motion.
