Next Three Days Going The Distance in the Afterlife

If you could not tell from the oh so creative title, this post is a trailer trifecta. That includes one movie that has the star power to draw me; one movie that has Milla Jovovich, and one movie that I would not normally carry the trailer for but that possesses a special set of circumstances.

First up, the Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks, and Liam Neeson thriller The Next Three Days. Not only are Crowe and Neeson two stars where I gravitate to their movies, but Elizabeth Banks is one of my only Hollywood crushes.

Plot:

Life seems perfect for John Brennan until his wife, Lara, is arrested for a gruesome murder she says she didn’t commit. Three years into her sentence, John is struggling to hold his family together, raising their son and teaching at college while he pursues every means available to prove her innocence. With the rejection of their final appeal, Lara becomes suicidal and John decides there is only one possible, bearable solution: to break his wife out of prison. Refusing to be deterred by impossible odds or his own inexperience, John devises an elaborate escape plot and plunges into a dangerous and unfamiliar world, ultimately risking everything for the woman he loves.

Next up we have the most recent international trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife.

Plot:

The fourth installment of the hugely successful “Resident Evil” franchise, “Resident Evil: Afterlife” is again based on the wildly popular video game series, and will this time be presented in 3-D.

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice (Milla Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead – and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Battling its way to a screen near you on September 10, 2010.

And, finally a clip from Going the Distance is a romantic comedy – something that I don’t usually like or follow. This one, however, has some interesting qualities. First of all, it is a Rated-R romantic comedy which means we ain’t talking a Jennifer Aniston movie here – and a restricted (over 18) clip. Second the movie co-stars Charlie Day from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – a show that I hate to admit I’m obsessed with. From what I can tell this is Day’s big screen debut – which means it will not be in the Spud’s McKenzie movie that I wanted made in Hypothetical Studio last week.

Plot (and extremely wordy it is):

Erin’s (Drew Barrymore) wry wit and unfiltered frankness charm newly single Garrett (Justin Long) over beer, bar trivia and breakfast the next morning. Their chemistry sparks a full-fledged summer fling, but neither expects it to last once Erin heads home to San Francisco and Garrett stays behind for his job in New York City. But when six weeks of romping through the city inadvertently become meaningful, neither is sure they want it to end. And while Garrett’s friends, Box (Jason Sudeikis) and Dan (Charlie Day), joke about his pre-flight calorie cutting and his full-time relationship with his cell phone, they don’t like losing their best drinking buddy to yet another rocky romance. At the same time, Erin’s high-strung, overprotective married sister, Corrine (Christina Applegate), wants to keep Erin from heading down an all-too-familiar road. But despite the opposite coasts, the nay-saying friends and family, and a few unexpected temptations, the couple just might have found something like love, and with the help of a lot of texting, sexting and late-night phone calls, they might actually go the distance.

Sexting a release date of September 3, 2010.
