There are tons of geeky cakes out there, and a large, possibly surprising number of them are Daleks. Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate a Dalek cake that actually looks good (and boy are there some hideous ones floating around out there), but if the winner of the Time War were decided by cake, the Doctor wins with this one:
Laura Edwards, the genius behind Chic Cakes, created this stack of awesome and kindly posted the picture on her Flickr page. I am seriously distraught that she lives and works in the UK, meaning that I can’t get her to make me one. I mean, the lady made a TIME VORTEX out of CAKE! If you are lucky enough to live in her area, seriously, give her your business so she’ll keep coming up with this stuff! laura is one of my friends and has made quite a few cakes for my familys birthdays. the tardis cake is just one of her amazing cakes. they are absolutely incredible and taste sooooo devine.
Koo, as always you are spot on!! Lauras cakes are the best around… way better than some crappy shop for tarts!!
koo and Martin both – you’re so right. It’s obvious when someone creates these things out of talent and love, versus commercial, mass-produced junk.
You need some quality cakes? You should see some of the stuff my wife makes. She’s never made a Doctor Who cake though.

I am really proud of this one as it was my own design and I had been making sculpted/novelty/bespoke cakes for only a year at the time. (it’s been just over 2 years now)
Being self taught has been a long but hugely fun learning curve and I love looking at other cakers creations for inspiration as they are a hugely talented bunch of people.
