300 Word Review: Iron Man 2

Robert Downey Jr., didn’t let a detour to Baker Street derail him from the Tony Stark cash train. As Elwood put in his review of the movie:

“Not only are Tony Stark and Iron Man one, but Robert Downey, Jr. completes the set.”

Ain’t that the truth? Downey is Stark is Iron Man and he has fun, once again, in what is becoming an iconic role. I know that Cap’ is the leader of the Avengers, but it is going to be hard for Marvel to put RDJ’s Stark in the backseat to anyone when it comes to showtime.

Scarlett Johansson is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood not named Natalie Portman, but she lacks the acting chops of the latter. Who cares? In this undercover bad-ass role, Johansson does more than enough.

Garry Fucking Shandling was trippin’ balls in Iron Man 2 and I was so glad to see the haired one that I almost shit myself. Shandling is probably best remembered for sardonically splitting the side of the world with HBO’s The Larry Sanders Show, but he is best remembered by me for the ahead-of-its-time meta comedy on the early Fox Network It’s Garry Shandling’s Show. I’m telling you Garry Shandling just about raised me, lent me his self-depreciating sense of humor, his understanding of a good head of hair, and the general ability to be a awesome enough to stand up to Iron Man. Iron Man 2 is awesome enough to have Garry Shandling which means that IM2 pretty awesome to be sure, son.

Expansive story, new talents, fun, a great final act, and Garry Shandling. I don’t know what else there is to say except that folks taking a piss on this movie are likely professional belly-achers anyway. Go see it for yourself.
