I heard rumblings of this movie before this week, but had no real thoughts of it. I am not generally a SuicideGirls fan-type, but I will say that their twitter account back when I first joined twitter was very active in replying and interacting with their followers. That was two twitter accounts ago and I don’t follow them currently, but I was impressed then with their level of fan awareness and willingness to play along in character.
Now comes what sounds like the works kind of strike-while-its-hot exploitation filmmaking, but I am straggly intrigued:
The concept from ComingSoon.net:
Here’s the hook: Twelve sexy, edgy, beautiful women from the famed SuicideGirls website (SuicideGirls.com) shoot a pin-up calendar while staying at a remote cabin in Maine. One by one, the girls start disappearing, leaving the others scared and running for their lives. Seen through the eyes of both hidden and the girls’ own cameras, this unscripted story captures the ladies – all non-actors and unaware their every move is being recorded – in the first reality horror movie of its kind.
OK. What I am not sure of is: Is this the plot synopsis? Twelve babes get knocked off one at a time? Or, is this how it was really filmed? Did the folks behind SuicideGirls.com get the gals out to this remote cabin for a photo shoot only to pull the rug out from under them take some of the gals out of the action and fake a bunch of scary crap in order to get real afraid-for-life reactions out of the women? If it is the latter, it is certainly a sadistic way to turn a buck, but is also the only reason I would want to see the movie – and actually want to see it quite badly. It would be like a real like April Fools Day. Interesting…
My guess is best case that some will be natural and some fake.
For those wondering: MPAA Rating: R (for pervasive nudity and language, sexual content, drug use and some violent images)

bwhahaha! “edgy”? If humourless overly pierced and tattooed women with major attention issues are edgy, Hot Topic just became edge-mecca.

Love the payoff, but I don’t share your hate. I’m not a fan of the gals or anything, but there are a lot worse things people could be getting paid to do (like be a politician). I mean it is derivative of the oldest profession which, for me, means it is one of the most honorable trades around. There are about 5 professions that transcend culture and are timeless and truly needed. If every other layer of this made-up economy failed, it is those 5 professions or trades that would be relied on when civilization is being re-built. A release for sexual frustration or hyper-active sexual need is one of those things.
Anyway, I guess I mean to say: if all these gals have to do is show their hooters and get a few piercings and dye their hair black to make a good living, then they’re in a much better boat than I am in. If I could shake my man boobs and online flirt with harmless prevs and make a living, you better believe I would do it.
