A big story broke last week about super star director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, The Prestige) was selected at DC Entertainment to be the good shepherd of yet another re-booted “Superman” franchise. MTv and E! Online both ran reports as early as 02/09/10.
The speculation as to what this would mean seemed endless. Would there be a Bats and Supe crossover? Would the Metropolis world of Superman and the Gotham world of Batman blend together on the big screen? Would Nolan be able to get actors on board to cameo in cross-overs? Would Christian Bale be Superman? Ok, that last one I made up, but still, there is a lot of love for Nolan (understandably) especially when it comes to superheroes, so this seemed like big new indeed.
Except Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment, claims there is nothing to Nolan being involved in a “Superman” re-boot; that it is just rumor.
“We don’t have any plans about that, and as I’ve mentioned, in the coming months we’ll be making a lot of announcements about what our content plans will be. But right now, that’s nothing but rumor — and we frankly don’t say a whole lot more about rumor than that, so…” quote courtesy of ReelzChannel.com.
So it looks like Superman is still stranded on the big ball of kryptonite that Bryan Singer stranded him on and no one wants to see go forward.
