District 9 is a movie I intend to watch again, with all of these new POVs to bounce off of it.

Hey Elwood! Seeing how no one else is stepping in to defend District 9, I'll offer up a counter-argument. I feel like D9 is one of the more significant contributions to the sci-fi genre in the last decade. A great social commentary on apartheid and racism in general wrapped in sci-fi action goodness.

I don't think the AIDS allegory was necessarily the aim, although it is an interesting take. What this film does is push the apartheid (really just racism) debate in a direction a non-sci-fi film couldn't go. It thrusts the oppressor into the world of the oppressed.

Wikus is not so much a representation as he is a point of view. One that shifts, beautifully, from one end of the spectrum to the other. Just my 2 cents.

I looked for "Black Dynamite" at Best Buy tonight, which might be the stupidest thing I have ever done at a Best Buy. No, number 2.

It was all so well cast, too. Even Samm Levine and BJ Novak - well known comedy actors with little to nothing to do in "Basterds" were perfect.

Enjoyed the vocal cameos too - Sam Jackson, Harvey Keitel, Cloris Leachman...

Quentin did us good this time around.

I loved Inglourious Basterds. I felt like this was Tarantino finally proving that he knew how to do a Tarantino film. My friend and I were on the edge of our seats as we watched. I mean, that is the most stressful strudel I've ever seen!
