[Trailer] Piranha 3D (2010)

Sometimes I hate goofy exploitive horror and sometimes I like it. I had fun with last years My Bloody Valentine 3D but my initial reaction to Piranha 3D did not include the slightest interest. This trailer has at least put the film on my map. It looks like good goofy fun with a lot of homage to the genre material – which a movie might as well have if it is going for such an old school premise in the first place. It’s directed by Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes) so the potential is slighter greater than just exploitive. Oh, wait, it also has Elisabeth Shue?! IN!

My only complaint is all these cheap horror movies are in 3D. I don’t care for 3D technology and would just as well like to see these movies made without the additional cost to the back-end movie-goer.

Jaws… lots and lots of jaws. From acclaimed director Alexandre Aja (“The Hills Have Eyes”) comes the new action thriller “Piranha 3D,” in the latest eye-popping 3D technology. A new type of terror is about to be cut loose on beautiful Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents. But our heroine (Elisabeth Shue) is seriously outnumbered, and with only one chance to save the lake and her family from totally being devoured, she must risk everything to destroy the aquatic carnivores herself.

The trailer is a bootleg, so catch it while you can.
