So…
Iron Man 2 is shooting to not only be a successful sequel but to re-launch the creeky and tepid post 80s career of AC/DC? Color me crazy, but wouldn’t have some sort of Black Sabbath tie-in made more sense?
I like AC/DC OK. Especially in their time. I don’t see the point of letting a 20 year dead band latch onto a guaranteed box office hit. How does this help Iron Man 2? Hell, even the Twilight franchise got Thom Yorke from Radiohead. Couldn’t Iron Man 2 have at least held out for a more relevant hard rock band? “Shoot to Thriller” was originally released off of the Back in Black album in 1980. AC/DC had a smattering of lackluster but high selling releases throughout the 80s. Their 1995 release Ballbreaker was followed up in 2008 with Black Ice - the multi-platinum bestseller (I wonder if more or less than 50% of the sales were cassette tapes?). All this seems rather pointless to me.
I guess there is still an audience for an aged 70 dwarf running around in knee-length knickers.
For what it’s worth, below is the music video for “Shoot to Thriller.” I’m a little less than excited. This is the first step in the Iron Man 2 promotional campaign that I have not liked.

The song is called “Shoot To Thrill”. I’d say if a band released a multi-platinum album in 2008 and have done two extensive nationwide tours that both sold near capacity throughout since then, they’re still somewhat relevant. Besides… they already used Sabbath’s “Iron Man” in the first movie, so they can’t go back to that….
I mean, I defer to you in all things of these matter; I just feel that they sell out shows like KISS and the Stones sell out shows – nostalgia
I loved the first Ironman movie. I am excited for Ironman Part 2! This movie is going to be amazing! I can’t wait!
