Along with Christopher Nolan’s Inception, Shutter Island tops my list of anticipated mainstream movies to be released in 2010.
From OscarĀ®-winning director Martin Scorsese, “Shutter Island” is the story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the cost of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island’s fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.
I’ve said it before that the book by Dennis Lehane (Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River) is a totally worthwhile mind-bender and one of my favorite “thriller” novels ever. It also looks like Scorsese is almost going Kubrick in his direction for Shutter Island. Oh and yes!
