Michael Cera, love him or hate him, I personally think he’s great at what he does. Playing the awkward teen is his bread & butter, so I say why not let him do that voodoo he does so well. You can argue that Pacino and De Niro have basically been doing the same character for decades, so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I fell in love with Mr. Cera in Arrested Development. He played the uncomfortable-in-his-own-skin straight edge teen right down to a tee. Watching him stumble through life (with that moronic bunch, who I all adore by the way) was a joy, and has been doing it ever since in movies such as Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist and Superbad. There is little buzz that some people are growing tired of him but I hope it’s just temporary. Look at Will Ferrell for example, he’s without a doubt the same character in every film he does, but it’s the right recipe, at least for me anyway.
Here is a funny graph I found that made me laugh. Pick any Cera movie and it actually works. Try it out for yourself.

I feel like I ought to post the following YouTube video of Michael Cera re-enacting the classic “Got Milk” duel between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton as told by a drunk guy:
