Legendary Artists Team-Up & Create Master Level Awesome

Space Invaders

We’ll start with bottled 150 proof awesome. There’s a little band out there called Arcade Fire that’s become a wee bit famous. They have a pretty friggin’ incredible song titled “Wake-up.” In this version, Arcade Fire is joined on vocals by David Fucking Bowie. I swear to Zeus if your soul didn’t just do a back flip then you are proof positive of the living dead

A Day in the OH MY FUCKING GOD

Maybe you have heard of rock & roll legendary troubadour Neil Young of Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, & Nash? Perhaps you have heard of a song by The Beatles called “A Day in the Life?” Here Young does it live. You know that part in “A Day in the Life” on Sgt. Peppers where Paul McCartney sings the bizarre paradoxical verse about combs and tea and shit? Yeah, he does that here too. If I was this concert I probably would have died.

Dude, How Much Dru- OH! WOW!

After The Beatles split, John Lennon did a lot of drugs, painted ceramic giraffes with Yoko, and made a number of television appearances. For a Rolling Stones special, he guested and ripped off a killer version of White Album highlight “Yer Blues.” As if that wasn’t good enough, planets proceeded to collide when his temporary band walked on stage. My I introduce John Winston’s Legbone Quartet: John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and Mitch Mitchell (from The Experience you heathen [goddamn Jimi Hendrix's, band ass-munch!]).

The King Is Dead (Thankfully)

There is a couple of versions of John Cale doing a cover of Elvis’ “Heartbreak Hotel.” One is kinda piano-y and nothing too special. The others will probably rip your spine out and pour ice water on it. This is a special version of that version featuring Cale, Shawn Colvin, and guitar virtuoso Richard Thompson. It makes me shiver and get a fever all at once. Mind altering.

In Tribute to George Harrison, I, Prince, Would Like to Completely Destroy The Guitar Solo Eric Clapton* Made Famous

Tom Petty and Jeff Healy trade vocals in this better than average cover of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” And then the shit is taken to a whole new level when Prince decides to shred the famous axe-work starting at 3:40.

*Look, Eric Clapton played guitar on the White Album version WMGGW. I swear it’s true.
