The big screen has been pilfering my childhood for years with mostly terrible movie adaptations of good-in-memory television staples of the 70s and 80s. I liked The Brady Bunch Movie, but that was mostly because of the Greg and Marcia sub-plot and the fun that the writers had parodyin the tv show.
What I believe is that televisionland is missing a perfect opportunity to do spin-offs from popular tv shows based 20 or 30 years after the original show aired.
Here are a few ideas. If anyone out there in televisionland wants me to write a pilot script for any of these, let me know.

The perfect show for pinko liberal Hollywood. Anson Williams and Scott Baio reprise their roles as Warren “Potsie” Weber and Charles “Chachi” Arcola from Happy Days. After a disastrous divorce from Joanie, Potsie is the only one of the old gang to come to console the destitute Chachi. From that act of compassion romance blooms. Potsie and Chachi relocate to Pittsburgh where they open a bookstore. The show deals with life as a gay couple in a blue-collar town and the zany antics of the patrons of their bookstore.

Diff’rent Strokes: Brothers in Crime (Dramedy)
Todd Bridges and Gary Coleman are back as Willis and Arnold Drummond. Now they’re cat burglars with a heart of gold – often solving crimes to save their own skin from the NYC police detective that has it in for them, blaming them for crimes they did not commit. Coleman plays the straight man to Bridges comedic side-kick.
At least once per show Bridges comes up with a wild conspiracy theory that earns the reply from Arnold, “Whatchu talkin’ about Willis?”

My thanks to Paul of the excellent Paul & Spike Show (http://paulandspike.libsyn.com/) for the Mr. Wizard of Oz idea.
I would totally watch the Diff’rent Strokes television show. On the other hand, I don’t think the new Family Ties would work on account of Michael J. Fox has the shakey shakey shakes now.
